Adding pieces to complete a sculpture is known as addition. Combining an assortment of pieces to complete art work is often used with metal sculptures. Sand sculpture would be another example of addition, as more sand is added to the sculpture to build the final work.
Substitution is also used in sculpting, where one material is substituted by another, often used in environmental sculpture and sculptures made from recycled material.
Color and Black and white photography is a popular concept. Using different color and lighting effects can change the overall look of a photo. Analog and digital media can create different effects, as film photography tends to give more grain to the photograph. The way a photo may print is dependent upon the type of photo paper.
